In quest’immagine possiamo vedere il mercato della canapa che si svolgeva abitualmente in piazza Castello.
Piazza Castello era un luogo di piccole dimensioni che si trovava lungo le sponde del Adigetto. Questa piazza è cambiato radicalmente nel corso degli anni assumendo varie forme. Dove si trovava il fiume a partire dal 1937 venne costruita una strada (Corso del Popolo), la piazza era inoltre circondata da case che poi vennero demolite e trasformate nel giardino delle torri. Adesso la piazza ha cambiato nome, in piazza Matteotti, in onore di Giacomo Matteotti rapito ed assassinato a causa delle sue denunce volte a Benito Mussolini ed al partito Fascista. La piazza che oggi si può raggiungere comodamente a piedi, era allora raggiungibile tramite il ponte delle Zemelle. Il nome deriva dal pane azzimo, che gli ebrei usavano per la pasqua ebraica, pane a cui si ispiravano I parapetti del ponte.

Piazza Castello was a small place that was located along the banks of the Adigetto. This square has changed dramatically over the years taking on various forms. Where the river was, starting from 1937 a road was built (Corso del Popolo), the square was also surrounded by houses which were then demolished and transformed into the garden of the towers. Now the square has changed its name, in Piazza Matteotti, in honor of Giacomo Matteotti kidnapped and murdered due to his complaints aimed at Benito Mussolini and the Fascist party. The square, which today can be easily reached on foot, was then reachable via the Zemelle bridge. The name derives from the unleavened bread, which the Jews used for the Jewish easter, bread that inspired the parapets of the bridge.
