Falce negli anni della prima guerra mondiale. Possiamo notare diversi strumenti necessari per utilizzare questa particolare falce. Quando la falce cominciava a non tagliare correttamente entravano in gioco gli altri arnesi. Dentro al corno vi era dell’acqua e una particolare pietra che una volta bagnata veniva utilizzata per affilare la lama. Quando la pietra non bastava per aumentare l’affilatura, entravano in gioco il piccone e il martello. Il piccone veniva piantato sul terreno e sopra veniva appoggiata la lama che mediante colpi di martello veniva raddrizzata e resa più performante. La catena che si vede attorno al piccone serviva per legare questi attrezzi alla vita, così da portarli sempre con sé, cercando di limitare la fatica e il peso.
Scythe in the years of the First World War. We can see several tools needed to use this particular scythe. When the scythe started not cutting properly, the other tools came into play. Inside the horn there was water and a particular stone that once wet was used to sharpen the blade. When the stone was not enough to increase the sharpness, the pick and the hammer came into play. The pickaxe was planted on the ground and the blade was placed on top of it which was straightened and made more efficient by means of hammer blows. The chain that can be seen around the pickaxe was used to tie these tools to the waist, so as to always carry them with you, trying to limit fatigue and weight.
